about ME

Audience Entertainment Since 1999.

Anna Tropper-Lener is an artist and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Graz, Austria. She was born in 1999 into a family of musicians, making a musical career almost unavoidable. Already at the age of five, she developed a passion for the piano, which marked the starting point of her creative journey. Soon after, she started taking lessons for violin and drums at the age of six, making her musical training more holistic. During her adolescence, encouraged by her supporting violin teacher Lucia Froihofer-Garber at the Johann-Joseph-Fux Konservatorium in Graz, she began to participate at classical competitions with the violin all over Austria, during which time she started to reconsider whether classical music should really constitute the locus of her musical career. When one of her teachers at the time, Igmar Jenner, introduced her to Jazz music, she instantly knew that jazz violin would bring her the fulfilment she had always been looking for.

Despite this realisation, she is currently studying classical violin as well as classical violin music education at the Kunstuniversität Graz and will attain her degree in 2023. In September 2022, she finally plans on making her dream come true by starting to study jazz violin at the Anton‑Bruckner‑University in Linz.

Besides her passion for jazz violin, she also loves acting and, more generally, entertaining people in every way possible. Through her engagements as an artistic director at Schauspielhaus Graz (“Physiker”, “Making a Great Gatsby”) and at the Volkstheater München (“Selbstmörder”), she discovered that there is much more to being an artist than only playing an instrument. Anna displays a broad artistic skillset, which ranges from compiling arrangements for a variety of instruments, grooving on the piano, and singing over recording her own songs in her home studio to expansive social‑media management, experiences in leading and conducting a choir, and managing bands as well as theatre productions as an artistic director.

In short, Anna is a multifaceted entertainer and musician with a focus on the violin who is very grateful that she has been given the opportunity to live her dream.

Frånz

BAND

Frånz is the first music project formed by Anna in late 2021. It enables her to compose her own music and arrange her favourite songs to be performed by a larger collective, which reduces the limitations on her artistic vision. The band consists of four highly skilled musicians who first met at university and have since then become a group of good friends who enjoy making music together. All of them help bring life to the creative and complex arrangements: Robin (drums), Johannes (guitar), Jakob (bass), and Anna (keys, violin and vocals).

The band is a very colourful firework of different music genres, mostly Jazz and Pop. The compositions take advantage of this manifold collective, defying all kinds of limitations and blurring the lines between a great variety of genres in the process. In their songs, one can find influences of Samba, Drum and Bass, Funk and Pop. Most importantly still, groove and feeling always lie at the centre of the band’s musical aspirations, which easily leapfrogs on their audiences during live performances. Anna’s unconstrained leadership style together with the visible joy of the performers on stage lends each live performance its own intimate touch, which allows audience to feel the authenticity of the music and perfectly encapsulates what Anna herself wants to express through her art.
